Converting for a meeting?

A single conversion tells you what “3 pm” means somewhere else. When more than two places are involved, the meeting planner shows everyone’s day side by side and finds the overlap for you.

Questions people ask

How do I convert a time to another time zone?

Pick the place the time belongs to, enter the time and date, and add the places you want it in. Each result shows the local time, the date (flagged if it is the next or previous day) and how many hours ahead or behind it is.

Does the converter account for daylight saving time?

Yes. It uses the IANA time zone database in your browser and evaluates it for the exact date you enter, so a March or November date gets the right offset even while the US and Europe are out of step.

Why does the date change in some results?

When the offset pushes a time past midnight, the converted time falls on the next (or previous) calendar day. Evening in California is already the next morning in India and Japan.

Can I convert to several time zones at once?

Yes — add up to eight places. Your list is remembered in this browser for next time.

What is the difference between UTC and GMT?

For scheduling they show the same clock time. UTC is the atomic-clock standard used by computers and aviation; GMT is the older astronomical name, and in the UK it is only the winter time — summer is BST (UTC+1).
